Murder on the Orient Express is the story of an East Express train accidentally stuck in a snowstorm in which a passenger on board was brutally assassinated. Fortunately, the famed Detective Hercule Poirot (Kenneth Branagh) is also on board and is investigating. A series of mysteries related to the passengers in turn are revealed. Anyone can be the culprit, everyone has a dark past. Will the evil man be exposed?
Murder on the Orient Express is one of the three most famous detective novels by Agatha Christie, along with The Murder of Roger Ackroyd and And Then There Were None. There have been many adaptations based on this story, and Kenneth Branagh's film is the latest addition to the list. Admittedly, I have not read one of Agatha Christie's works so I can not tell exactly whether Hercule Poirot played by director Kenneth Branagh is the same as her original. But there are three characteristics of this character that are sure to be both the film and the story are the same: one is his odd beard, the other is humor in character and finally, a good detective and a the man of justice. Kenneth Branagh has done a great job.
The supporting cast includes many big names in Hollywood who have also completed their roles well. The more impressive is that of Michelle Pfeiffer (as widow), Leslie Odom Jr. (as widow), Johnny Depp, Daisy Ridley, Willem Dafoe, Penelope Cruz, Judi Dench. (the color doctor) and Josh Gad (the secretary). Throughout the process of finding the culprit, there is no real struggle, as every time Poirot trains someone, the clues appear. Unlike Robert Downey Jr.'s Sherlock Holmes. or Benedict Cumberbatch, when they infer are always saying, the images appear in the head. But obviously those characters are just pieces, the clues for the sudden revelation at the end of the film. An end is not really a surprise to those who have read the book or have seen the previous versions, but it is handled very well and always makes us worry about the decision that the characters have. make a choice. Justice is not always enforced, and it is these faults that break not one, not just two, but many souls. The souls of those affected by injustice, by the death of innocent people.
The film has done well from the visuals to the sound. European images of the past century have been reproduced in a very classical way through the vast expanses of the sky, the sea and especially the East Express train, where most of the content of the film takes place. The costumes are well designed and I love the masculine beard of the male characters. The cold in the movie also blends with the cold in the Galaxy that I watch, and it gives a very difficult feeling to describe.
Murder on the Orient Express has brought the audience back to the genre of detective, a genre that we have not seen much on the big screen last time. Although not very good but the film is interesting enough and bring entertainment moments for the audience.
Have you ever dreamed of being a cop so you can catch a crime? Or do you want to be a lawyer who can protect justice and justice? But are you wise enough to distinguish what is right, what is wrong? This life is interesting there. We always believe that everything has two sides. Things seem simple until you have to stand between the boundaries between black and white. You have to make the right choice, and that is extremely difficult, even with our great Hercule Poirot detective.
