"The LEGO Ninjago Movie" - Funny but not creative

After a "LEGO Movie" surprise and "The LEGO Batman Movie" with good quality, the style of the LEGO series is slowly going down with "The LEGO Ninjago Movie". The lack of creativity plus a diminutive cast of characters has made the movie a truly forgotten work.

When The LEGO Movie of Phil Lord and Chris Miller first debuted in 2014, the audience was completely amazed at the story of creative, fun and humorous, as well as the emotional end of the film. With global sales of $ 469.1 million, Warner Bros. Recognizing the potential of this brand and rapidly developing two more LEGO thriller films.

The success of The LEGO Batman Movie debuted earlier this year, prompting many to expect The LEGO Ninjago Movie to continue the series. The LEGO Ninjago Movie, however, shows that this series is going in the wrong direction, in addition to the characteristic humor, the movie does not bring anything new.

The story of The LEGO Ninjago Movie revolves around a group of six ninjas trained by Master Wu to fight the evil army of Lord Garmadon (Justin Theroux). But there is a small problem: Lloyd (James Franco), the Green Ninja - the captain of the team, is the son of Garmadon. This led Lloyd to the ominous situation when he had to defend the city of Ninjago, just to reconnect with the evil father.

Although only works aimed at the audience audience but two LEGO films have previously been very successful in the inclusion of messages really deep and meaningful in the film. With the LEGO Ninjago, the film is nothing but a sketchy story, no details are dug deep into the place.

The story is very simple and almost identical to the movie superhero we are familiar as Spider-Man or Superman. So the plot of the film is really easy to guess, no surprise or make viewers think about the deep meaning embedded in the movie. The film is full of materials to develop into a quality work, but everything is only mentioned in the roughly speaking. The cause is probably because the script was written by six writers. A work must have too many people who have their own ideas are sure that the formation will not be complete.

The focus of the film lies in the relationship between father and son Garmadon Lloyd, with most of the film revolves around these two characters. Though the main antagonist of the film, Garmadon was developed very sketchy. He is evil because he likes it without any specific motives. Justin Theroux voiced very well but unfortunately the movie did not give Garmadon much ground to perform. Similarly, James Franco's Lloyd Green Ninja. He is just a teenager trying to find a place for himself. The script tries to put in some interesting things like when Lloyd was hated by everyone, but when he donned his Green Ninjaga costume, he was the idol of the whole city. But like other expensive details, this factor was not exploited properly, only mentioned at the beginning of the film and forgotten for the rest of the time.

The two main characters are so lacking, the supporting cast is even more tragic. The remaining five members of the Ninja team just stop with different shapes and characters, the rest of them do not contribute anything to the storyline in addition to the appearance of full face. In fact, if you put all five, the film really is not much. Instead of being close teammates, always wholeheartedly for each other, they are extremely ... three right. When the plot demand, they are willing to abandon Lloyd but only 5 minutes later the whole assembly as close as no separation. Jackie Chan has a funny incarnation of Wu, but in addition to the mission of encouraging the spirit of the Ninja, the character does not really know what else to do.

Still, there is a task that The LEGO Ninjago Movie has accomplished is to create an eye-catching, child-friendly work. Baby-boomers will have exciting moments with quality jokes and colorful pictures. Also thanks to the simple storyline so the children can easily follow, no need to turn 5 minutes to the parents explained. Because of its audience appeal to children, LEGO Ninjago is a bit bored with mature audiences who have been waiting for an interesting movie like the two predecessors that have the full content to fit. Audience at any age.

After all, LEGO Ninjago is the weakest part of the LEGO franchise. Perhaps Warner Bros.. was too confident before the success of The LEGO Movie so they were in a hurry to turn on the green light for the next. The hallmarks of the series completely disappear in LEGO Ninjago. From a plot full of potential, but when the film again becomes superficial, shallow, lack the intelligence and creativity of the first two episodes. Hopefully, The LEGO Movie 2 will find a way back to the core value of the series, or better than breaking the trail and bringing the story to a whole new level.
