[Review] The Commuter - Is Liam Neeson too old?

Last year, Liam Neeson announced The Commuter would be the last action film in his career, causing the audience to be surprised. But, if we look back, we still have to admit, Liam Neeson is too old to play the action "alone balance the world." And The Commuter proved this to be true.

Liam Neeson, take a break!

It's time to get into the throne, the melee, the gunshots and a heroic "sky god, foot pedal," as he did Bruce Willis in Die Hard, Jason Statham in The Transporter or Sylvester Stallone in Rambo ... But in 2008, the audience was feverish with the action movie melee with Taken debut. The film marked a turning point in Liam's career, and drew him into the action line with subsequent film releases such as Taken 2 and 3, Non-stop, The Gray ... Perhaps, Taken himself and Jonh Wick will be two stunning melee films and make the audience the most dazzled in recent times.

However...

"I'm 60 years old"

This is Liam's affirmation in The Commuter and also in the present. Over the past 65 years of life with many ups and downs, time has probably drained almost all of his strength and it is time he no longer plays the heroic role. If in Taken, he can weigh 3, 7, but to The Commuter, he got onions, eat onion and onions. Every breath, the wrinkles on the face of the audience to see a very different Liam, a Liam is too old.

The awkwardness of old age also appears in the film. When trying to return to the ship under the ship, Liam was struggling and embarrassingly obvious. Even when confronted and handled with the opponent, Liam hits a 1, the opponent counter-attack 4-5. The sighs, frown and sadness on the face (yes, sadness, not the anger, as in Taken) shows that a Liam is no longer the "yesterday".

Hopefully, as he says, The Commuter will be the last action film, and the audience will see him again in the movies as well as nominated for Best Actor with Schindler's List.

Back at The Commuter, the movie was not really good, for the following reasons:

The script is faint, the plot is not attractive

Liam Neeson has scenes in a very narrow space, such as on the plane and the toilet is Non-stop, on the yacht and there are Taken, the helicopter is Darkmen ... and now on the train there is The Commuter . The film tells the story of Michael, a middle-aged man who is five years into retirement, sticking with the train for more than 10 years as a means to go to work every day. Suddenly he was fired and on the train home, he had a strange conversation with the mysterious woman, forcing him to find a person not belonging to the ship and the bag. From here, the "hunt" begins.

This is Liam's fourth collaboration with director Jaume Collet-Serra after Non-stop, Run All Night, and Unknown. Have you seen anything familiar here? Everything that goes through the film does not leave much impression, and sometimes it goes down quite a bit.

The screenplay is quite fuzzy. There are very fast passages, there are also very slow passages. The details do not explain much, but the things that can be ignored speak a lot. The plot is easy to guess, no twist to mark. In particular, if you are too familiar with the virtual plane phase in Non-stop, the end of this movie will not make you surprised too virtual.

The film has not yet explored the villains, especially the less-than-exploited criminals, and the main antagonists were built as well.

Angular rotation too familiar

Director Jaume Collet-Serra, after the other three action films, has not changed the angles yet. If anyone has watched the other three films, it's easy to see that he is very close to his face, the action scenes often turn around in half and follow the main character. This, if anyone unfamiliar will be very easy to dizzy.

He also often turns the view from under moving vehicles. For example, if you had two turns under the running train, this made me feel very upset. But he also praised, as he also has two scenes on the side of the ship to make the audience heart.

And some small points

As for the acting, the main characters play their shoulders. However, the supporting characters are a bit fuzzy, especially the role of the witness, whom Liam is trying to protect. Besides, he had to compliment the role of the ticket man, with two very funny scenes.

Music is not so prominent. I'm out of the theater, but I do not remember having a movie soundtrack. Probably because the film does not have "so deep" scenes, only the action should not match the song at all.

The scene is not so beautiful. This can not be blamed, because 80% of the film is filmed on the train.

So, if you have not succumbed to the cruise ship cruise on the Cruises on the Orient, on the special train of Liam can not make you excited. Unless you want the cinema to enjoy Liam's last train of action films, invite you!
