Robot Chicken (2001) review

All pop culture references, and for those that don't get it or don't watch it, screw you! It's like one big inside joke! I have family members from all ages that watch this and we all laugh our butts off. Seth is so talented and it's great to watch all those toys we played with or characters we religiously watched do something totally out of character. Obviously if you are watching Adult Swim you have a certain sense of humor and Robot Chicken fits right in with Family Guy, Futurama, Sealab and ATHF. Hey how many of you have ever wished Kit from Knight Riderwould explode into a fiery flame or the Duke Boys would give each other that "special look"? Wish granted! Go Seth and make us laugh. sicario putlocker

Still waiting for season 9!

In short robot chicken is a stop motion series in which its creatures take everything from nostalgia to current politics and trends and make it in to something crazy, violent and hilarious beyond ant idea.

In the series if you have a political movement that you believe it is the right one. A hero from literature, comics ,video-games or TV-series that you cherries. Or even a person that you think it is awesome, brace yourself deconstruction is coming. And in all their episodes ,we have hilarious situations and nostalgia killing in great amount with a lot of dark comedy thrown in to the mix.

All that work for me shows me that Seth Green and Matthew Senreich , they must have a genuine love for their work and all the nerd stuff they satirize for a living. And maybe is my own morbid sense of comedy ,but I think their work is something that everyone should see in order to 1) acknowledge the faults of what he/ she loves, 2) understand that it is fine to like what he/she likes and 3) Be grateful that nowadays they can re-live their childhood through these series. And from that I am not an exception for I did a marathon of Batman the Animated series two years ago after my nineteenth birthdays and I still consider Looney Tuns, Toy Story and WALL-E films and series that you must watch before you die.

If I have an issue is the time it take of the next season to come, come guys bring it. Really with all that misery in the world we need something funny and smart in order to keep our wits and sanity.

Over all go watch and be careful, there are scenes that are quit graphic and you may re-think it, however give it try.

frenetic stop-motion comedy

Robot Chicken is a show that thrives upon incongruities, beginning from its seemingly-nonsensical frame story: a mad scientist finds a dead chicken lying on a road during the middle of a thunderstorm and brings it back to life through robot parts, only to force it to watch endless TV clips. This introduction precedes every episode, and it is the short sketches that comprise the actual show.

The show itself is sketch comedy, acted out through stop-motion: plastic toys, various props, toy vehicles, and intricately-decorated miniature sets. The sketches themselves are hit-and-miss; depending on your tastes, you may find an extremely amusing sketch followed by one that fails to amuse. The fortunate aspect of the show is that the sketches are so short and frantic (anywhere from five seconds to, rarely, several minutes in length) that dropped jokes are soon swept from memory. The odds that each episode will contain at least a couple of 'personal' gems is quite high.

Robot Chicken is not for everyone: some of the humor is rather mature, occasionally toeing the line between edgy and tasteless. Still, the astute social commentary (or utter randomness) and merciless skewering of popular culture/celebrity make for a highly underrated and amusing show.

The Second Greatest Show about Absolutely Nothing!

Call it sick, twisted, bizarre or what have you, but I call it brilliant. Not because it is well written or animation genius, but rather it is an exact parody of life. Like the chicken, forced to be "programmed" by a wall of televisions, we are all stuck with the billions of programs our monopolistic cable providers choose for us. Piped into our homes, our creativity sits on the shelf while we down popcorn in front of the bluish glare of the glass boob-tube. Sure, there are a billion programs to choose from, but they follow a pattern of acceptability that thinks for us so that we don't have to.

Robot Chicken breaks the mold! It isn't ashamed of anything! It makes us think! It reflects life through the animation of toys – real life that non-thinkers shrug away from. And the low-budget animation is perfect in the sense that it doesn't detract from the message. And every episode include brief animation snippets that smack you in the face and make your brain change course.

This show should be winning tons of awards, if not from Hollywood then, no doubt, from human rights groups! hulu blacklist

Pop Culture Insanity

I've always loved the sketch comedy sub genre because of the creative freedom behind it, you can do whatever you want. Whether it's to parody on something, put a spin on a common cliché or norm, or even just something completely different all together you're allowed to go for broke. This show is both one of my favorite animated shows, TV shows but also my second favorite in the skit comedy subgenere.

This is a sketch comedy show that I feel was just made for me because it's one that focuses on the pop culture that we were all familiar with when we were kids to even now; which are basically toys, video games, comics, cartoons, movies and TV show. But also just the simple fact their able to parody on things as well as do certain things that even live action parodies are unable to do. But most of all I think by it's nature it's really a love letter to the pop culture we've all known and love throughout our lives and continues on to this day.

The animation effects I think are just great because they utilize stop motion which is now a lost effects practice. Some would consider this old school but that's the way I like it and I feel that adds to the funny and fun atmosphere of the show, but most importantly gives it a retro feel. The toy as well as figure models they use are great because they look real and accurate to the pop culture characters they parody. I even like the prop models they use for background which I think also look great. Cinematography is also great, I can tell they really put a lot of time and effort into making these things possible. It's also a really violent show, there are a lot of gore effects which I think are great, a lot of characters even beloved ones sometimes get killed in creative or messy ways and die. But since their all stop motion figures and these are only skits you don't feel too bad about it, in a way it just adds to the comedy.

I really love the voice acting from Seth Green whom is one of my favorite voice actors, and Dan Milano. But I also like the guest voices that come in like Mark Hamell (one of my favorite actors I think is underrated and also one of my favorite voice actors), Nathan Filion, Billy Dee Williams, Michael Chiklis, and the ensemble from the live action "Scooby Doo" films (which I thought were decent) Linda Carlini, Fready Perez Jr, Mathew Lillard, Sarah Michelle Gellar, and Frank Welker. All of them really put effort into their acting roles and were all having fun.

The skits are just great, it's true not every one of them are hits in my book; but sketch comedy has always been a hit or miss operation so I can't complain. Anyway there are just a lot of memorable skits which I think are creative and in a way tap into the collective fantasies we've all had whenever we watched a TV show or movie. Whether it's a character doing this, in our modern reality, if this character fought this character, just anything that may have crossed you mind.

A few of my favorite are "The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown" just seeing Charlie Brown do something I've been wanting him to do for years made me cheer, I'll give you a hint has to do with Lucy and a football. The traffic jam with all of the bad guys Cobra Comander, Lex Luthor, Skellator, and Mum-Ra in one car, it was both funny and sad because yeah I hate traffic jams myself. However I my favorite sketches were always the ones based on the franchises "Star Wars" and "DC Comics" which is great since I'm a big fan of both and from the amount of them on the show I can tell the creators are big fans of them as well. Runner up is "Scooby Doo" since the ensemble cast I mention has always came back and were involved with a lot of the once creates almost on each season, my favorite one was where they go against Jason Vorhees which is cool since I like the "Friday the 13th" films, the ending of the skit is just comic gold.

Well I've said enough, this show is insane fun but also a testament to show pop culture will never die.
